About Delegate Diana M. Fennell

Delegate Diana M. Fennell (Democrat) is a resilient public servant and a steadfast advocate for the people of Maryland. A proud breast cancer survivor, she brings her strength and determination to every aspect of her work, fighting for progress, equity, and justice. Her political journey began in 1995 as a Council Member for the Town of Colmar Manor, where she worked to address local issues and uplift her community. She continued her leadership as Mayor from 2000 to 2010, driving forward initiatives that made Colmar Manor a better place to live.

In 2014, Delegate Fennell earned the trust of her community, winning election to represent District 47-A in the Maryland House of Delegates. Her dedication and effective leadership led to a decisive re-election victory in 2022, proving her commitment to delivering results for her constituents.

A Legislative Champion for Working Families Throughout her career, Delegate Fennell has been a powerful voice for working families across Maryland. In 2019, she played a key role in passing Bill 166, which established a state minimum wage, ensuring fair wages and economic stability for thousands of workers. Her leadership in this fight demonstrated her belief in economic justice and a fairer future for all.

Drawing from her own personal experiences, she championed critical healthcare legislation in 2023, including MD - HB815, which focuses on expanding cancer screening, improving health insurance coverage, and tackling disparities in outreach and education. Delegate Fennell’s efforts to address healthcare inequities are a testament to her unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of all Marylanders.

Fighting for Social Justice and Inclusivity Delegate Fennell has also led efforts to combat discrimination and promote inclusivity. Her work on MD - HB577 targets discrimination in housing, particularly against individuals reentering society, reflecting her belief that everyone deserves a second chance and a place to call home. She has consistently advocated for social justice, standing up against systems of inequality and striving to build a more inclusive community for all.
